Supermarine Spitfire Mk.1a N3200 is one of a few remaining airworthy spitfires to have seen combat in WWII. Built in 1939, it was issued to No 19 Squadron at RAF Duxford in April 1940.
Squadron Leader Geoffrey Stephenson piloted N3200 on 26 May,1940, on its first and only operation, as he led his squadron on a patrol to cover the evacuation of allied forces from the beaches and harbour of Dunkirk. Shot down, Stephenson remained a prisoner for the rest of the war, including a period spent at Colditz Castle.
His Spitfire was recovered from the French sands in 1988 after strong currents revealed it. Following an intensive restoration project, N3200 returned to the air in 2014 and was donated to IWM by Dr Kaplan and his family in 2015. It can be seen flying at Duxford air shows throughout the year.
Batch 1 is limited to 500 hand numbered and labelled bottles and contains our award winning IWSC silver medal winning London Dry Gin. 70 cl 40% proof.
We are honoured to have been approached by the IWM to design this bottle and Chad Hill of Django Studios has designed a fantastic bottle for us. The IWM records and tells the stories of those who have lived, fought and died in conflict since 1914. We are sure this is just the beginning of our journey with the IWM.
